Angry personnel of the Community Protection Unit of
the National Youth Employment model popularly known as “Zoom police” had their
high aspirations dashed in Tamale at the end of a meeting with Abuga Pele,
National Coordinator of the NYEP.
The Zoom police who have not been paid their four
months allowances said they were called to a meeting with Mr. Pele at the Northern
regional coordinating council where they expected payments only to be
told that there was no money.
Mr. Pele was quoted to have told the peeved Zoom
police personnel that the Ministry of Youth and Sports was sourcing funds from
the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to pay the outstanding salaries.
Northernghana.com gathered that Mr Pele warned the
personnel against negative comments they have been making about the government
in-connection with their conditions of service.
Some of them who travelled from Salaga to attend
the meeting in an exclusive interview complained that outlet of the National
Youth Employment Programme was no longer attractive.
According to two personnel of the communmity police
in the Salaga District were unceremoniously fired over their alleged involvement
in a meeting with the former Minister for Works and Housing, Alhaji Boniface
Abubakari Sadique in Salaga during his recent home visit.
