The Minister of Health, Dr.
Benjamin Kunbuor, has warned heads of health training institutions to
desist from the excessive use of school buses as means of transport for
funerals.
He said the practice was bad and should no longer be tolerated.
Dr. Kunbuor gave the warning in Wa when he presented a 30- seater bus to the Health Assistants Training School on Saturday.
The Health Minister advised the school authorities to use the bus to facilitate academic work.
Mr. Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional
Minister, who received the keys of the bus, announced that the Regional
Co-ordinating Council had acquired a land for the establishment of a
permanent campus for the school.
He appealed to the health ministry to
expedite action on the construction of the structures to enhance
quality teaching and learning.
"Right now classes are being conducted
under temporary structures and this is creating overcrowding and also
affecting quality teaching
and learning," he said.
Dr. Alexis Nang-beifubah, Regional
Director of Health, thanked the ministry for providing the school with
a bus and gave the assurance
that it would be used to enhance the academic performance of the students.
