Moses Bukari Mabingba, elevated Northern regional
minister has met with heads of department in the region with a call on them to
attach bi-partisan approach to their official duties.
He impressed upon them also to exhibit the outmost
neutrality and professionalism in the discharge of their duties to move the
region forward but in the right direction.
Mr. Mabingba said the proper development of the Northern
region was the collective responsibility of all sectional heads and appealed to
them to cooperate and support his administration to deliver on the government’s
“Better Ghana” agenda.
The regional minister attributed the region’s low
productivity rate to absenteeism and lateness at work places and implored the
heads of department to make that practice a thing of the past.
He described himself as a team player who needed
everybody onboard to accelerate the region’s development agenda but warned that
complacency and treachery was not going to be tolerated.
Mr. Mabingba thereby advised civil servants working
in the region to bury their political and other doctrinal differences and
consider the region’s development as their major priority.
He reiterated government’s commitment to provide
portable but affordable accommodation to workers in the region and announced
Vice President John Dramani Mahama’s trip to China as part of the concrete
steps taken to solicit funds to complete the Ghana government affordable
housing project.
Participants at the forum outlined lack of
accommodation, lack of moveable logistics and understaffed as some of the major
impediments affecting their offices and appealed to government to support them
to deliver.
Mr. Mabingba took over office from his
predecessor Stephen Sumani Nayina on Monday March 1, 2010 at a colourful
handing over ceremony conducted at the Regional Coordinating Council.
